The role of the Embassy of Senegal in London is to represent Senegal and to inform the President of the Republic and the Government of developments in the political, economic, and social situation in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
In addition, the Embassy must provide assistance and consular protection to Senegalese nationals within its jurisdiction.
The Embassy is also tasked with promoting Senegal as a tourism and business destination to British tourists and investors as well as the private sector. Given London’s position as one of the world’s leading financial centres, the Embassy is also called upon to introduce, support, and monitor the progress of funding requests submitted by the State of Senegal.
Diplomatic presence in the United Kingdom has always been a strategic option for Senegal, which, as early as 1962, accredited an Ambassador to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Since then, fifteen (15) Ambassadors have served at the Senegalese diplomatic mission in London:
