On 30–31 August 2025, the Embassy team travelled to Leeds to support the local Senegalese community, offering consular services such as passport applications, legalisations, and birth registrations, etc.
Ambassador General Cheikh Wade joined the visit on Sunday, 31 August, where he met with community members for an open and friendly exchange.
On Monday 1st September, together with representatives of the Leeds Senegalese community Makhame Thiam and Rohie Ndow, Ambassador Wade also paid a visit to the Lord Mayor of Leeds, Councillor Dan Cohen.
Their discussions touched on greater engagement with the small but thriving senegalese community, future collaboration with the City Council and opportunities for partnership with the University of Leeds, particularly in areas such as AI, HealthTech, and education.
